ABOUT THE UNIVERSITY: Established on 11 January 1957 KURUKSHETRA UNIVERSITY is a dream project of former Punjab Governor, Sir Chandeshwar Prasad Narayan Singh a Sanskrit scholar, who wanted to set up an institute to promote Indian culture and traditions. When it was inaugurated by Dr. Rajendra Prasad there was only one department, the department of Sanskrit. The campus is spread over 400 acres, situated 180 kms away from Delhi. Students in large numbers take up admissions in the University in various courses offered by the University. It is also a member of Association of Commonwealth Universities.
